the stripes were excellent, however, everyone except perhaps Tool, looked like amteurs (sp?) in the festival game when compared to the flaming lips...absolutely off the hook...insanity

Was thinking the same thing about the Stripes. Too many people for that stage. Props, though, that the sound was great even as far back as Jack looking the size of a bobble-head.

The Stripes blew my mind. I expected to be at best mildly amused and instead got my face melted. Unbelievable. That 2 people can stir up such a storm of music with such apparent conviction is a sight that I will never forget. I used to dismiss people that love them, I feel a little foolish now. WOW.

while i do respect and very much enjoy the White Stripes (aka Jack White), to compare his individual work to the talent levels of Led Zeppelin on instrumental levels, and on the band as a whole, is a crime against humanity and you deserve to have this blog shut down for such.

Kudos John! I was there...wayyyyy in the back, near the VIP bleachers. There was no way we were going to fight our way through that sea of people! It definatly should have been at the main stage. It was my second time seeing them, and this time was just as amazing (if not better) than the first! I'd like to agree with you on the Robert Plant comparison (despite the nay-sayers). My group (11 of us total) all agreed on that during the first song!!! Hope your memories are as great as mine!

The White Stripes perf. at "Dusteroo '07" was entertaining at best (and mildly) - for a more raucous and impassioned perf. please reference the North Miss. Allstars (same day) or the Black Keys (a prior day) - and yes Meg White looks like a kid on the pony ride in front of the grocery store... all the great drummers in Detroit and Jack had to go with her???

IF there was a tag team match between Zep (in their hey-day) and the White Stripes?! Zep hands down... if for nothing else - the drumming... hahaha Bonham vs. Meg - and if it weren't for great predecessor guitarists like Jimmy Page I think Jack White would be a great gas station attendant currently.

Wow. That White Stripes show was the perfect climax to that festival. Widespread was like the dessert but the Stripes show was the feast. I absolutely loved every note of that performance. Couldn't have been happier at that moment.

The White Stripes gave a performance that was more energetic than anything I saw on the mainstage - definitely one of the better acts of Bonnaroo 2007 :oD

Comparisons to Led Zeppelin are a bit heavy-handed (because nobody else can achieve that) but I appreciate the musicality of what such a "little band" can accomplish!
