Interesting sentiments; it saddens me to hear your opinion about Andy Summer's tone and performance. But what frustrates me more is your lack of coverage of some of the lesser acts to perform at this year's Bonnaroo, namely the Rx Bandits. They were especially excited to be playing the festival as the Police happen to be a great, driving influence for them creatively. Being trained in the business myself, I know you probably had restrictions and other things, but it would have been nice to see my favorite band featured in this publication. Cheers!

if you want to see your favorite no name band, then travel to manchester yourself and see them. don't expect something like MSNBC to give you coverage and reviews of an obscure band...

The POLICE like any other high priced **Ego Group** are just in this for the $$. Even Stewart Copeland (Drummer) doesn't like the way they sound and he's in the band!!! Who wanted the Reunion?! I think maybe their bank accounts wanted the reunion not the Baby Boomer Fans!

What I saw of the band was devilish. I couldn't believe they did 3 Black Sabbath covers. Sting can really tap that zylophone. It was weird when Stewart Copeland decided to don leather thigh high suede boots and perform that silly flute solo.

I found them totally unlistenable. I was at one of the last Police shows ever back in 1980-something (I'll never tell). As soon as he started singing the wrong lyrics to Synchronicity II (the second song of the set), I tuned out.

That being said, John, it was wonderful seeing you again & I hope we can stay in touch.

When Sting and Stewart Copeland came out dressed as medieval magicians(complete with pointy hats), I was confused. It all made sense when they broke into Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic though. I thought Andy Summers riding out onto the stage on a John Deere tractor was hilarious. I still can't figure out why they hosed the audience down with poppy seed salad dressing though. Anyone know what that was all about?

Was it me or do you think Sting was confused about what time they were suppose to end the show?

Totally agree with your thoughts. The timing was off, and Sting's "jazzy" new renditions of the classics was cool like orthopedic shoes.

It's a no-win situation for the Police. If they'd come out and done their tunes like the record you'd be saying "how predictable... blah, blah, blah." And you're in a band... Have you ever played Copernicus a little faster or slower than it should have been played? Live is live.;)

I'm glad they did a reunion tour for the simple fact that I never saw them back in the day, I wish I had. I'd rather see the original line-up instead of some crappy "new" incarnation, even if Andy's lost a step or two.

I do agree Summers' tone (Mesa Boogie sucks) paled in comparison to the best tone he ever got (Marshall w/Tele).

I can't speak to the Bonneroo show but they were great at the Key in Seattle.

Dude, let's get together this summer...
