Pardon me Mark, but it is a foolish notion to think that kids today are looking to rekindle the magic of woodstock. Anyone still making this type of comparison has obviously not taken part in or have been paying attention to the festival scene in the past 10 years! Beleive me, the magic is still there but if your looking for it, you won't find it. The magic will find you. So drop your experiential weights and measures and get out there and boogie!

...And thanks for the offer but I think I'll stick to 4 days of music, chaos, magic, friends, camping, food, and late night shenanigans. You can keep your iPod, CDs, and out of touch commentary.

Being a veteran of Bonnaroo and several other recent music festivals, I must say Mark, you have completely missed the boat. Seeing live music is about the experience and living the music, not trying to recreate a festival from 38 years ago. Its about spending a few days with several thousand people who are willing to beat heat, rain, mud and bugs to relish in the gift that is live music. You cannot recreate that experience on a cd or your iPod, and you CAN find it in a cow pasteur in TN...

sounds to me like Mark is the one who is trying to recreate a Woodstock type atmosphere. I've been to two 'roos and had nothing but a brilliant time. the music, the people, and the atmosphere is it's own. how about our resident "genius" Mark actually makes a trip to bonnaroo and experiences it before he passes judgment on the people who have supported it since it has started.

first time Roo goer here, thank the lord that this guy didn't go. i don't need to be brought down while at the roo by some dude who decides that "everything sucks."

guaranteed after the first note he'd change his mind and attitude on music. the hippies at Woodstock were looking for a different thing than the people at bonnaroo. no one wants another woodstock.

we must support bands that allow live taping, and the tapers in general. these downloads are legal, you are not killing anything except the record companies clutch over music from the ctual artist. this is what people these days are concerned about.

Good vibes cannot be bought or played on an iPod, they must be felt in person.

or you could just videotape a live Broadway show and watch it later. idiot

at $250 a ticket, you get 4 days and over 100 acts. 89,999 people are your best friends. what is that, $62.50 a day? save up all your loose change for a year in a jug, then go beg your wife that for fathers'day, you want to do what YOU want to do, not what her friends' husbands are doing. to hell with the status quo, its no big deal to be dirty. you'll be glad you did.

look, if your wife won't let you go, TAKE HER ALONG --
but don't knock the Roo just because wifey won't let you be among "those dirty hippies" who's faces hurt due to 4 days of constant smiling.

ps the industry is being killed by the fact that if an act doesnt have three radio hits every album..they get dropped...no chance to build a fan base that understands the evolution of the sounds...the music industry is all pop regardless of genre...
